The information below is self explanatory. Do you have any children this age amongst your members that may like to take part in this project? If so please make contact direct with the film company. It would be nice, however, if any family in Scotland taking part would get back to me with some details of when the programme will be aired etc.
Dear Sir/Madam,
My name is Daisy and I work for Blakeway North, a documentary TV company based in Manchester, Blakeway North is an award winning regional production company, renowned for its high quality factual programming. We specialise in access documentaries and craft honest, thought provoking and entertaining output.
We are developing an idea for CBBC at the moment about children who are part of pigeon racing clubs and I thought you may be able to help with my initial research.
We are currently looking to speak with boys and girls aged 8-13 who are enthusiastic about their hobby and would like the opportunity to share their world with other children. The documentary would be part of a strand on the channel called My Life which uses children as narrators to tell their own unique stories. These films are perfect for helping the audience understand the eclectic world we live in.
We have worked with CBBC before on a number of well received and award winning programmes including the RTS (Royal Television Society) award winning, ‘Staying Awake’ a film charting what life is like for three boys with narcolepsy, ‘Bionic Me’ which followed the stories of children with prosthetic limbs and My Big Family Wedding which looked at one of the largest families in the UK, this too was recently nominated for an RTS award. Currently we are working on our fourth film for the strand, where we have gained unprecedented access to Eton college to follow their scholarship boys as they begin their first term in the school.
Please do let me know if you can help at all. At this stage we would purely be looking to chat informally to parents and children involved in the circuit and any conversations would not oblige anyone to take part in any filming.
You can reach me here or on 0207 428 3100.
Many Thanks,
Daisy Ball
